Interior Detail vs Full Detail: Which Does Your Car Need?
“Interior Detail” and “Full Detail” sound like they’d cover opposite halves of the car, but the naming is a bit more specific than that — and there’s a third package in between that’s actually where most people should land. Here’s what each one covers.
Interior Detail ($165–$275) — interior only, no exterior wash
This package is exactly what it says: a deep clean of the cabin with no exterior work at all.
- Full interior vacuum — seats, floors and mats
- Carpet and seat hot-extraction shampoo
- Leather cleaning where applicable
- Door trims, dash, console and glovebox cleaned and protected
- Door jambs, seals and boot area cleaned
- Cabin deodorised
Good fit if the outside of the car is already fine — recently washed, garaged, or just not the problem — and the interior is what’s letting it down.
Most Popular Detail ($198–$385) — full wash + full interior, no polish
This is our most-booked package, and for good reason: it’s the Interior Detail above, plus a full exterior hand wash (pre-rinse, hand wash, wheels and tyres, dry). It covers everything most people picture when they say “get the car detailed” — clean inside and out — without paying for polish work the paint might not need.
Full Detail ($275–$418) — everything above, plus paint polish
Full Detail is the Most Popular Detail with one addition: a full exterior hand polish and final gloss finish on top of the wash. It’s for when the paint itself needs attention — light swirl marks, faded shine, oxidation — not just dirt.
Full Detail doesn’t include an engine bay clean. If you want that too, Premium Detail ($319–$485) is the same inclusions plus engine cleaning.
How to choose
- Just the interior needs work (spills, pet hair, general grime, but the paint looks fine) → Interior Detail.
- Both inside and outside need a proper clean, and the paint’s in decent shape → Most Popular Detail. This covers the vast majority of bookings.
- The paint has lost its shine, has light swirl marks, or hasn’t been polished in a year or more → Full Detail, or Premium Detail if the engine bay needs attention too.
- Paint has visible scratching, heavy oxidation, or hasn’t been corrected in years → that’s beyond what a Full Detail addresses — a Cut & Polish or Paint Correction is the right call instead.
